In my opinion, Tim Burton, who directed the 1st 2 Batman movies, did a good job capturing essence of the comics and keeping it dark like Batman is supposed to be. Chris Nolan, the director of Batman Begins, did a good job of reinventing the franchise and still kept the dark mysterious aspect of Batman. Joel Schumacher, who directed Forever & Batman & Robin, had bad stories and did not stay true to the comics, and did not find the those movies enjoyable compared to the other 3 movies.

Batman and Robin... I really loved their costumes in that one. My favourite part is when Robin says "Holey rusted metal, Batman". It was a throwback to the TV batman series.

I love Batman Returns and was just watching it on the Family channel tonight.
I think Batman Begins is the only decent Batman movie.

I'd also have to say that all of the animated Batman movies (continuing from "Batman: The Animated Series") were good too.
I didn't like "Batman & Robin" or "Batman Forever", which is why they're not on my list.
It's a tie between Batman'89 and Batman Begins.
