That sounds like Kaze no Stigma. The fire sword is the 'Enraiha', a mystical sword passed down the en-jutsu (fire arts) using Kannagi family and is wielded by Kannagi Ayano. The air sword is wielded by an outcast from that family who had no talent for en-jutsu, who returned several years later as Yagami Kazuma, a fu-jutsu (wind arts) user.
Could it be Avatar the Last Airbender? It's about a whole world dominated by people who can control Fire and there is one kid left in the world who is the only one who has the ability to control air. the one you've described sounds like avatar .... but try watching shakugan no shana ... it's way better than avatar. The girl in shakugan no shana can also summon a firesword.
