The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya?!

Question: Hello!

I am 13 years old, and my 10 year old sister and I LOVE anime! However, my Mom has very strict rules for it, because she doesn't like how the content in Anime is much stronger than it is in the US.
I was looking into a series called "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", and just had a few questions. First of all... what is this series about? Is there any cuss word worse than the "D" word (Including both "B" words)? Is there cussing regularly? Is there any Sexual content\Nudity\Innuendo that I should be aware of? Would it be suitable for my Sister to watch it with me? Thank you in advance for any information! :)

Hi there. :)

"The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" is about the life of an alien, supernatural and mystery fangirl named Haruhi Suzumiya who built a mystery club of her own. Although she likes those things, what she didn't know is that most of the club's members were actually aliens and one was from the future! She also has a "normal" member named Kyon, whom actually was able to talk to her (when everyone else couldn't) and managed to see the "mystery" parts that Haruhi really wanted to see. Things like that.

I have heard no cuss words, but maybe it's just me. Even if there are cussing, it's not done regularly.

As for the content, there's a bit of nudity (where one of the members wears a bra) which you might want to avoid. One of the girls - Mikuru Asahina - is also a victim of Haruhi's sexual harassment (Haruhi likes to grope her breasts and forces her to wear some sexy suit, like bunny suit or the like). Raul T said there's an episode in which there was blood, you might have to be cautious when watching that (I forgot the episode number).

I personally think it's not that suitable for you and your sister, but then again, it's up to you.

Have a nice day. :)

Nope it won't be. I'm straining my mind to think of an anime that *doesn't* have more sexual innuendo than american cartoons.... aaand I can't.

Sorry. Anime is from a different culture. If you want anime, you'll have to watch it on cartoon network or sci-fi channel where they censor it first.

There are no swear words or nudity involved. There is only one episode where there is a lot of blood and probably you have to be cautious to show. There are some exploits on poor Asahina into making her an icon to boost the popularity of the S.O.S brigade like dressing her in a Bunny Suit to distribute flyers or Maid / Nurse outfits for turn ons or using her attributes to score free computers. Other than that, I wouldn't find it offensive to any one.
It is one of the best animes for 2006 because of its different take on school anime.

There are no swearwords other than Gang****. There is slight nudity i guess... but no more than any other anime. (at least they still have underwear on)

It is about haruhi herself and her various attempts to find aliens, time travelers, and espers.

Sounds random, is random, yet is addicting.

There's a fair amount of sexual innuendos in there (breast-groping, "costumes", uh... others I can't remember).

If your mother is really strict, I really don't think you should watch it. You'd freak her out.
