Hahaha, no, it's just a joke. Your friend was either kidding, or he seriously believed this without knowing.
This has been going around due to the fact that he kidnaps, tries his experiments on, and targets his subjects when they're very young children (i.e. Anko, Yamato, Sasuke, Kimimaro, etc). This isn't because he has a pedophilic fetish, but because younger children are easier to coax, control, and are more willing to follow what they think is guidance from an older person (i.e. Like with Haku followed Zabusa). Also, if you witness the labors and fruits of mad scientists-like experiments on any show, anime, story, or whatever, you'll notice they prefer to experiment more on children (i.e. Blood+: in the Vietnam arc, they experimented on younger children). I'm guessing this is because unlike adults, children haven't fully developed their immune systems, therefore their bodies are less likely to reject chemicals and other things inserted into them during experimentation. Also, as they grow older, one can observe how experimentation affects them in the long run (i.e. Sasuke received the cursed Heaven Seal when he was young, so as he grows, Orochimaru can see how it affects him).
One of his specialities is bestowing his "victims" with the cursed seals, and since this requires him actually biting them in the neck, people have seen this as a sort of sexual act. His great interests in Sasuke, Itachi, Kimimaro, and other ninja who are quite strong is just due to his obsession with obtaining power by taking over a strong body and using it as a fighting tool to gain that power. However, people take this to him being GAY, which he ISN'T. Also, his appearance, pale exterior, long hair, sunken cheek bones, feminine-like voice (his Japanese seiyuu is a woman), and long tongue which he likes to flick around, has been compared similar to that of the infamous... uhhh, yeah... Michael Jackson. And you already know about HIM... LOL!
