Transformers Timeline?!

Question: What is the official time line of the original animated series? Is Armada and the other Japanese series that were adapted to English considered canon? How about American series like Beast Wars? Would each series be considered seperate universes and unreleated to one another? Thank you.

In 2006, there was a comic released by IDW Publishing called Transformers: The Gathering that revealed/retconned that Beast Wars was actual set in the future of the original Transformers (also known as Generation One or G1). The IDW Publishing Transformer comics were basically a continuation of the original Generation One series that Marvel started back in the 80s. I think Beast Wars itself started off in a different universe, but the writers almost immediately started gathering facts from Generation One and incorporated them into their stories so it became plausible for IDW Publishing to make the connection between the two due to their similar histories.

Beast Machines was a direct sequel to Beast Wars.

Robots in Disguise took place in a separate universe.

I'm pretty sure that Armada, Energon and Cybertron were alternate universes as well. None of the shows that I watched really made sense when compared to the other series.

Cartoon Network is supposed to release Transformers: Animated sometime in early 2008 and I believe it is going to be a seperate universe as well from what little I've read about it.
