no no no no no no no and no. That rumor just won't die will it. People originally thought he was the leader but we know now that the leader is Pein (aka Nagato). Minato Namikaze (yondaime) is dead. Oh and if you didn't know Minato is Naruto's father.

The grate Yondaime Hokage has been dead for quite some time now. He is in no way related to and or Akatsuki. who ever showed the grate Minato being an Akatsuki is an A** H***

It's just a long-running rumor that refuses to die. First, the Fourth somehow survived, and was leading Akatsuki. Now, supposedly, it is Pein is disguise.
Officially, the Fourth is still dead.

Maybe yondaime is one of the six Pein the Akatsuki leader bodies. Since he has disappear ever since he seal the Kyuubi inside his own son and Madara is the summoner of Kyuubi. Madara give order to Pein and Pein have body shifting techniques which is one of the legendary Rinnegan power, so this theory is possible.
