Anime is a slang used by Japanese to refer to animation. I think you should have known this by now. But why do people like them? What makes it so special? Here's why:

1. Half-realistic human characters that catches viewers' eyes and made them wish they would be exactly like that in real world (lol).
2. The story and plot, although are various, concentrates on the relationship between us human beings and the universe itself.
3. Its special effects (if there are fights) are made of awesome!!
4. It's more complex compared to cartoons; even teeny-weeny animes like Crayon Shin-chan and Doraemon also focused about human-life realities.
5. Japanese language usage. It's an addiction.
6. Cool theme songs, openings, and endings. I want to ask, have you seen a cartoon with constantly changing opening and closing theme song?
7. Doramatikku! (Dramatic!) Sad scenes bring tears, funny scenes bring laughs, serious ones bring suspense, and so on. And when it ended with a cliffhanger, we go, "Ahhhh!!! To be continued?!" and couldn't wait to see the next episode.

I know; I have been an avid anime fan like many others. :) And yes, once people get into anime world, they couldn't easily escape, lol.

Anime is Animation that comes from Japan! They just have a certain style from over there with the cartoons. Go google Manga that will give you a better perspective on where it came from.

It is Japanese animation that is mostly based on Japanese Mangas (books, graphic novels). A lot of them include cute characters that a lot of Americans enjoy, they have increased in popularity in the states over the past 10 years or so. You probably have to credit Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z for bringing it into the mainstream in America when Cartoon Network started airing the shows some time ago. Since then there has been an influx of Anime brought to America and shown on Television on various channels.

its japanese comics people like it cause its diffrent from american comics and its also very detailed so thats why people like it cause its like harry potter where once you reading it your like in the book and when it ends you wish that this really did happen in real life.

Anime are usually originated from manga (hand-drawn comics).. Anime tends to be more popular than manga probably because it is more colourful, accompanied with audio and visual effect. Not only kids, some adults like anime too...it serves as a form of relaxation; sometimes you can get a good laugh while watching the anime...

It's Japanese cartoons/ comic books. What most like about it is, the way they draw the animation characters.

Anime is traditionally hand drawn, but like in most animation computer assisted animation techniques have become quite common in recent years. The story-lines of anime represent most major genres of fiction and most motion-picture media (television broadcast, DVD and VHS distribution, and full length motion pictures).

Anime or Japan-amation as some lovingly called, are cartoons made in Japan that eventually come stateside after years of the series being over in Japan.

Anime (アニメ, Anime? IPA pronunciation: /ɑnime/ listen (help·info) in Japanese, but typically /??n??me(?)/ or /??n?m?/ in English) (plural anime) is an abbreviation of the word "animation". Outside Japan the term most popularly refers to animation originating from Japan, and to the Occidental way of thinking not all animation is considered anime. Anime is therefore usually considered to be a subset of animation.

Anime is traditionally hand drawn, but like in most animation computer assisted animation techniques have become quite common in recent years. The story-lines of anime represent most major genres of fiction and most motion-picture media (television broadcast, DVD and VHS distribution, and full length motion pictures).

Animation, as well as anime, come from the Latin, "animare" meaning "to breathe life into" thus "animated" means to be full of activity, or moving pictures. Both the original and abbreviated forms are valid and interchangeable in Japanese, but as could be expected the shorter form is more commonly used.

Linguistically, the anime definition is subject to interpretation. In Japan, the term does not specify an animation's nation of origin or style; instead, it is used as a blanket term to refer to all forms of animation from around the world. In English, main dictionary sources define anime as "a Japanese style of motion-picture animation" or "a style of animation developed in Japan".Thus, non-Japanese works are sometimes called anime-influenced animation if they borrow stylistically from Japanese animation.

In western countries the word is used usually only to refer to animated programming of Japanese origin, with the term "cartoon" or "animated series" used for most other visual styles. The online anime database AniDB generally defines anime (in the singular form) as "an animated, professionally produced, feature film created by a Japanese company for the Japanese market". However, some anime are co-productions with non-Japanese companies like the Cartoon Network and Production IG series IGPX. Thus, anime is no longer specific to the Japanese market.

Anime can be used as a common noun, "Do you watch anime?" or as a suppletive adjective, "The anime Guyver is different from the movie Guyver." It may also be used as a mass noun, as in "How much anime have you collected?" and therefore is never pluralized "animes" (nouns are never pluralized in Japanese). However, in other languages where anime has been adopted as a loan word, it is sometimes used as a count noun in singular and in plural as in Danish "Jeg tror, jeg vil se en anime" ("I think I'll watch an anime") and "Hvor mange anime'er har du nu?" ("How many animes do you have now?").

It's a japanese form of animation that is slightly different from US made cartoons. It deals mostly with different sort of "genre's" more than the average US cartoon does. This includes shoujo (mostly aimed at girls); shonen (action adventures that mostly deals with boys adventures), and many more. In my opinion, people like them because thay have good and UNIQUE stories and good artwork. They also happen to be good frameworks for drama, comedy or action flicks that become masterpieces everywhere (ex. the matrix=ghost in the shell).

Anime is a type of animation, it's way better than those kiddie cartoons. Kids, Teens, Adults, everyone likes anime. It suits everyone's tastes. There are anime for boys, anime for girls, anime for nerds, anime for cool people, anime for kids, anime for old people, anime for perverts, anime for everyone!

It's garbage...it's not special and the only reason people like it is because they have no taste.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from it.

Japanese cartoons it's ok i didn't know what it was last year either
