How does Wolverine bend his wrist if his claws must pass through it?!

Question: Wolverine's claws are so long that when he retracts them, they'd have to go through his wrist. But wouldn't this mean that his wrist would be immobilized?

When not exteneded his claws are resting along the lenght of his forearm. His wrist is okay to move around.

When his claws are fully exteneded, depending on artist/writer,
1 - the claws rest beyond the wrist with muscle supporting it so he can bend his wrist
2 - the claws/support bone extend back to the forearm for support, so he can't bend the wrist.

When the claws are partially exteneded or are comming out he can't bend his wrist since the bone is over the joint. If he does bend his wrist before letting the clasws pop out it will come through the skin at the wrist.

On the accident questions his admantium bones won't hurt him its like a cage around his organs to prevent damage.
when retracted, the claws are in his forearms and not in his wrist.
that's a good question. i never eally thought about that.
A more mysterious question is what would happen if he was in a car accident? Would his internal organs be ripped apart by his own skeleton?
His claws are either in his forarm retractted or his hand extended. Thus he can bend the wrist and the wounds heall from his healling factor.
Hi! His claws are bones lateral to the forearms that extend from the forearms and go out at the knuckles area. When retracted they go back to their position and he can bend his wrist. And to answer the other question, if he has an accident the bones would protect him rather than hurt him, but anyways he will heal.
