Her learns Orochimaru was going to take over his body. Anyone wouldn't want that. So he "killed" him so that not only he'd be outta the way but also because it was one step closer to getting to Itachi.
maybe the idea is if he kills orochimaru he proves he's better than Naruto, at least to his ego, and then he takes over orochumaru's orginization to go ater his brother. Id rather see Saske get the arrogant snot beaten out of him.
the only reason orochimaru wanted sasuke was so that he could take his body sasuke knew that from the begining so he got as much power from him that he could and when the time was right he killed him
in the manga i think he states that he didnt kill orochimaru only absorbed him. He did this so that he could kill his brother which sasuke and orochimaru both know that i ts impossible to do alone. even orochimaru states that itachi is stronger than him. he later said that himself switching bodies wouldnt be a problem if he had itachi uchiha from the start. i also think there was a flash back when itachi used his mangekou sharingan driving orochimaru back with orochimaru stating what powerful eyes. thus he wants sasuke for that same power
