In the end of death note......?!

Question:

In the end of death note......?

one thing that im curious about is what happens to those who wrote in the death note after they die cause i remember ryuk saying they go to neither heaven or hell but one of the rules said that all humans go to mu. or is that just specified to those who wrote in the note?.. i thought light wouldve became a death god

Answers: From my point of view, I don't think that humans who wrote in the Death Note had a different fate than any ordinary person. In a way, I suppose Ryuk just wanted to be cruel to Light, and refrained from telling him outright that all humans had no 'afterlife' after dying -- including Death Note users.

Since "mu" is nothingness, I think it's reasonable to assume that they all share the same outcome. As further proof, at the end of the manga, it's quoted:

"All humans will, without exception, eventually die.

After they die, the place they go is MU. (Nothingness)

Once dead, they can never come back to life."

Note how the second line uses the word "all" and does not bother to include a term that would exclude the humans who have used the Death Note.

Also, the third line is careful to state that humans can never come back to life. Which leads me to assume that Light did not become a Shinigami; since technically if he had, he would've (figuratively) been resurrected, in a way. The manga itself in the end shows no clues as to Light being alive again either. In fact, Matsuda even mentions that life is back to the way it used to be before Kira appeared -- which (in my opinion) seems to be the author's way of saying that Light is really gone for good.

My reason for thinking that is if Light had become a Shinigami, I believe that he would've continued killing people with his Death Note. He probably also would've killed Near and company as well, as an act of revenge for causing his untimely death. (And keep in mind that in the epilogue, several years has passed. If Light had become a Shinigami, then he probably would've long since written everyone's names down during that time. So just the fact that Near and everyone else is still alive proves to be controversial to that theory.)

As for Kira's remaining followers, I think that that bit was put in as a way of showing that Light's actions had not been forgotten. But that doesn't necessarily mean much, either than the fact that he did impact people with his deeds.

...And um... With that, ends my (Really lengthy... Possibly boring/exasperating?) explanation. =')

I really hope that I helped to bring some insight to Death Note's rather... Mysterious (in lack of a better term) ending.

Oh and also, if you enjoyed D.N., then you might want to try reading the manga Liar Game. It's plot is really quite similar, and in my opinion, it's an amazing series. Please check it out if you have the time! =) I guess they all just go....nowhere. I'm not sure what mu is, I don't even recall that word in one of the rules. i think he just meant that whoever write in the death note goes to mu (nothingness)

i remember it somewhere along these lines: "dont think that anyone who writes in the death note can go to heaven or hell. they will just go to mu."

i didnt read the manga, so i dont know if they put it a different way, but thats what i remember from the anime actually... i was wondering myself... but i was really thinking that they will turn into shinigami. i would prefer that light were to become a shinigami rather than to go to "nowhere". hes to brilliant and awesome to just dissapear into nothingness.
that truly was a sad ending....
