When did we become disposable?!

Question:

When did we become disposable?

We've become a world where everything is disposable - drink cups, paper plates, razors - the list goes on and on. What I'd like to know is when we became disposable as people? Our job can dispose of us. Our friends can dispose of us. Our romantic interests can dispose of us. The places we frequent as customers can dispose of us.

Do you ever feel like you're disposable?

Answers:

i think people make themselves disposable, to be honest with you. we choose our friends, our lovers, our jobs; if you choose a person who is less than likely to commit, then you can EXPECT to be disposed of. if you choose a job that is not serious about looking for a certain position then, again, you can expect to be disposed of. it's all about exploring options. and the only reason that those kinds of people are made more available now than they were like, 20 and 30 years ago, is because it's taught by society that it's okay! it's perfectly fine to have 60 different boyfriends/girlfriends before you're 25... perfectly okay to go through 10 jobs before we're 20.
i think people can resolve this with themselves by setting higher standards and goals. if everybody had that much respect for themselves, the world would not be so "disposable"... we wouldn't be an analogy to paper and plastic. :)

don't you think?
