My grandmother and her sisters...?
has some land in a different parish that their father left them before he died so many years ago. Let's say about 19 years; about a acre or more; the question I'm asking is, what do they have to do to get their land back and payments because people are on the property living on it and my oldest aunt is paying taxes on the land. My grandmother has 8 sisters and 6 living right now as I speak. All of their names are on the deeds and papers. Will they ever get their land back and how?
Answers:
I would check with the tax assessor's office and the County Recorder's office to be sure that the ownership hasn't changed on that land. Be sure you are looking at the correct piece of land, too.
If the deed is still valid proving that they are the owners and you find that these people are trespassing on that land, contact the local sheriff's office and have them booted off of it.
