H.R. Pufnstuf was about a boy named Jimmy who had a talking golden flute named Freddy. A witch named Witchiepoo wanted the flute and set a trap for Jimmy. She had a boat call to him and take him for a ride....the boat crashed on Living Island. Jimmy was rescued by a dragon named H.R. Pufnstuf, the mayor of Living Island.
Every episode revolved around Witchiepoo trying to steal Freddy.
The Show was created by Sid and Marty Krofft, this was their first series for television and it made it's debut in 1969. A feature film was also made based on the series.
The cast included Jack Wild as Jimmy, Billie Hayes as Witchiepoo and Lennie Weinrib and Joan Gerber as the voices of all the costume creatures and puppets on Living Island.
