Question:
Can you name 10 of the best Anime movies from the 1980's?
I used to watch some anime when I was younger, and I remember seeing some really good ones that were made in the late mid to late 80's. I was wondering what are the best ones from that time period, besides Akira, everyone knows about that one.

also I like the Rated R ones, with the blood and gore, those type of anime ones. not the ***** *** ones like pokemon.

Answers:
Do you specifically just mean movies? The following are movies I enjoyed as a kid.
Project A-Ko (1986) - I always loved this one. Not gory though. It's a parody of the anime that were out at the time, mostly humor about two girls fighting over one amidst an alien attack.
Guyver: Out of Control (1986) - heard the series is better, but it's bloody. A boy discovers a powerful bio-armor and uses it to fight manmade monsters.
Macross: Do You Remember Love (1984) - Also has a few series, known as Robotech in the US. I used to watch this with my brother when we were kids. Earth airplanes that turn into mechas to fight off aliens that are controlled by songs (sorta).
Megazone 23 (1985) - Friends attempt to discover the truth behind a friends' death and uncover a political cover up.
Transformers: The Movie (1986) - I just had to list this. Unicron rocks; the movie that had millions of little boys in tears.
Grave of the Fireflies (1988) - Some other people mentioned Miyazaki, but people rarely talk about this one. Can be considered political propaganda, incredibly sad story about a boy and his sister after the WWII atom bombs.
Sol Bianca 1 (1990) - Okay so it was a two part OVA, but the second movie is inconsequential. Five female space pirates fight off a power hungry empire. They're hot, and the series is slightly violent, but only for a few scenes.
Lily Cat (1987) - Sci-fi futuristic murder mystery /fight for survival type aboard a space ship.
Riding Bean (1989) - A mercenary/ vigilante gets mixed up with a 10 year old girl and um, smart kidnappers? I didn't really understand it when I was younger. It's definitely R rated.
Roots Search (1986) - Horror Sci-fi about psychic abilities and murder in space.
Hope that helps
