What is your opinion on the lottery?

Do you think that spending hard earned money on a 1 out of a million chance ticket to win is worth it? Do you think that it is a fun and healthy way of spending money moderately if you don't over do it and you don't test your luck? Also, say that you do win, what would you do with it? Do you think all that money will bring you happiness or would you use it to bring others happiness? So how would you spend the jackpot? just asking for opinions and serious answers please

I used to work for the lottery - paying out the annuity and big winner jackpots.

I think that spending a $1 here and there is not a bad thing, but there are people who get addicted and spend too much of their $ that they need for other things on their 'chance' to win.

What would I do? I would make sure that each of my children and nieces/nephews had college funds taken care of, give some to my church, make sure that my family was taken care of and then I'd invest the rest for annuity payments over the next 20 years or so to make sure I had a steady stream of money coming in.

Do I think it could bring happiness? It could bring financial relief to some, and if you help others, that is even better. But I've also seen it destroy people's lives because they didn't know how to control their spending.
