I've been trying to learn how to play a song on the guitar?
its called "collide" by howie day. i'm sure i'm playing it right, but for some reason it still sounds a bit off and awkward. Could it just be because my guitar was cheap? Or could there be another reason?

check your guitar and see if it is in tune.
make sure you are playing the chords correctly
unless it is an official booklet or you bought the chords off of the internet or something like that, the chords may be incorrect
maybe your strumming pattern is a little off.
if the chords are correct, then it is probably the strumming pattern that is throwing you off. just keep playing the song and listen to the actual song as you play the chords so that you can get the strumming down just right.
