Why is Rock better than Rap or Rap better than Rock?

Im talking about rock in general, like anything from green day to U2 to linken park or evanescence. there are occasiaonlly good rap songs that i like but rock is just more pleasing to listen to and sing along to, and for me i can relate to rock or punk music more at my point in my life but i loves rap a while ago, so, now i ask you, which do you prefer and WHY? give a good reason if you can :)
p.s. i have a lot of respect for both genres of music

like i said, maybe you just cant relate to rock, and its not always WHITE people *cough racist cough* yelling, or screaming, i didnt say heavy metal did i? and maybe you lack imagination or dont have a clue what a songs about, thats why you dont understand the video, and to me some rock videos are really artistic, rap is becoming too repundent (i mean cmon, you cant have a girl shaking her butt and hot card in all your videos?...well apparently you can) im not hating on all of you who like rap, like i said i love it too, but some of you dont seem open minded to it

reading on the answers, i still see most of you failed to judge rock as a whole, your only attacking punk/emo, not a good argument is it?

I really cant choose one. I like them both. I can't live without either.

Rap isn't all bad. There are alot of good rap songs out there. I agree that there is too much shaking in videos. Some rappers make it seem like its all about money cars clothes and hos. That is one they I really dislike about it. I can't fault the whole genre, just because I didn't like what they were saying in that song. Even if the song doesn't have the most pleasant lyrics, I would listen if it has a pretty good beat.

I love me some rock. Not all rock songs have screaming and talk about killing yourself. Some people need to get a clue. Rock has very good lyrics, if you just STOP and give it a try and stop stereotyping.I like alot of rock videos because you have to use your brain and think about what is happening and relate it to the lyrics.My favorite band is Three Days Grace. I like them more than anybody in any type of music. If you watch there video for Never Too Late you have to THINK not hard but you still have to think. In alot of rap videos all you have to think about is that butt shaking.

All in all I still like both.
