How do you copyright a song the legal way?!

Question:

How do you copyright a song the legal way?

How to you go from righting writing a song to actually recording it and having it copyrited?

Answers:

First you have to write the song. Whther you write the lyrics or the music part. You have to do that part first.

Then you have to record your "song or songs". Now. you can either buy a little 4 or 8 track Recorder like (Tascam) and do it yourself at home. Or you can go to a real Recording studio, pay like $25 an hour and record a CD DEMO of some songs.
The songs dont have to be prefect, you just have the music down on CD so you mail out a copy to the Library of Congress. Make 2 copies of your CD demo or tape...one for you to keep...and one for you to mail out to the Library of Congress for Copyrights.

Also, go to the offical website and carefully read the info on what youre doing. www.copyright.gov or the Library of Congress official website. The Library of Congress is who actually legally copyrights your songs for you. Because what you want is the real "Certificate of Authenticity" proving that all those songs are indeed yours! That "Certificate" will hold up in any court of law because it proves you are the Original "Author and Exclusive Owner" of all your songs and music.

You must have these things in order to process your application :

1. Copies of your lyrics
2. Copies of your sheet music/ notaton or tabs if possible
3. The proper PA nand SR forms filled out
4. The $45 fee for the songs
5. A audio CD, or Cassette Tape Demo of your songs on there
6. Get your mailing package, bubbled-wrapped and insured too because you don't want to lose your songs!

I hope this helped you a little and good luck to you. Best wishes to you in the music biz.
