What is R Crumb saying with his drawings?

I'm not so sure he was trying to say anything, when I watched the biography on him, perhaps it was an autobiography,, he never really said, however the feeling I get from him is, were he to say anything to us at all with his drawings is,
All those feelings, Ideals and imaginations we hold in as dark and perhaps wrong are neither, they are just our thoughts and being such in the light that we all have some form of thoughs such as those, merely makes us normal in our abnormal thoughts,, I think :)
