I tend to think that the identity of the next Doctor has already been decided actually, and the actor may have already signed up for the role!. That would explain why there's been nothing on the grapevine about the BBC searching for a new Doctor!. They've already got one!.
The timing of David Tennant's announcement is very interesting!. Why didn't he wait until nearer the time he's leaving!? The obvious answer is because we'll be introduced to the 11th Doctor in this year's Christmas special, where he and the 10th Doctor will work together to defeat the Cybermen!.
The Christmas special is called "The Next Doctor" and as well as David Tennant, it will star David Morrissey who is also playing a character called "The Doctor"!.
What better way to introduce the next Doctor than to have him working alongside the current Doctor a few stories before he regenerates!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

A woman would be interesting, although perhaps they will have a new Doctor when the currents ones 13 lives are used!. I think that having a young teenager with alot of character would be good!. Around 16- 17ish, i know a few who'd be good!. But someone to take it in a different direction!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Personaly, I'd like David Tennant to stay for atleast series 5, but if I had to chose, I'd say Robert Lyndsay*!. He's a good actor (I think) in My family ectWww@Enter-QA@Com
