Has the Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross "stunt" been blown completely !

Question: Has the Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross "stunt" been blown completely out of proportion!?
I think so!.!.!.!.

Do you know that the actual broadcast of the "prank" phonecall only received two complaints!. That's TWO complaints!. Not two hundred, not two thousand, but two!.

It is in fact thanks to the (biased) Daily Mail's article that the escapade has received such massive media attention and been blown completely out of proportion, in my opinion!.

No Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross should not have made that phonecall as some people could be highly offended by such actions, however they are not wholely to blame for the incident:

1) the producer should NOT have allowed the "prank" to be broadcast (it was pre-recorded as most of you will know)!. It was a ridiculous decision and he should be fired (however the fact he should be fired is debatable and down to personal opinion)!.
2) the daily mail shouldn't have published an article criticising the "prank"!. AFTER the Daily Mail published this article criticisng the controversial phonecall, the BBC started to receive hundreds of complaints over the matter!.
It is not unknown that the Daily Mail has it in for Russell Brand, Jonathan Ross and the BBC!. In my opinion, whoever listens or agrees with the Daily Mail's bullsh*t, (excuse my French), needs some help!. The Daily mail is vulgar, and does not write based on fact, normally they completely fabricate their stories or overexagerate for a desired effect (in this case, they aimed to achieve resentment towards Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand, and also to provoke the BBC for a reaction)!.

It is also unreasonable to critcise the BBC for their delay in apologising!. I'm not sure whether it is publicly known that two very senior people were absent from their positions at the time of this "scandal" and that the people who remained present may not have been fully aware of what they should have done under these circumstances!.
Many people at the BBC regret the decision that was made by more senior bosses but were unable to do anything about it!. A majority of workers at the BBC think that the BBC should have made a public apology quicker!.

Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross' "stunt" has been completely blown out of proportion!. It was meant as a joke as Russell Brand quite rightly said!. It is well known that Russell Brand's humour is very controversial and does not appeal to all audiences so if if you dislike Russell Brand's humour then why sit down and watch him on television!?

This is just my opinion however!. What do you think!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I agree, and if this crusade is allowed to continue our television will become as censored and unentertaining as the american shows!.
They have apologised more than once to the people who matter, the Sac's, and now every up tight super conservative has lept on the bandwagon ready to stick their ore in!.

!.!.!.If you dont like what is on the television/radio dont watch it, there are plenty of other programs and channels to watch and a great deal more to do than sit infront of the telly!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

30 000 people have reported it
how many of them actually listened to the broadcast
its the producers fault make him resignWww@Enter-QA@Com

definitely!. Over the top!. Far from a joke!.
We pay our television lisences and they put a rude, ignorant bloke on the screen!.
Its ridiculous and should have not been put on air!.
Thats my opinion!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The victim was not a party to the joke and therefore it was abuse!.

They shouldnt be over-punished for it though, they didn't intend to hurt anyone!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think it has been blown out of proportion!. The both should have just got the sack and issued an appology and that should have been that!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

It strikes me that everybody wants to jump on the complaining wagon - it seems as though there are more complaints about the programme than there were ever that many actual listeners ! ! !Www@Enter-QA@Com

A little, but im disappointed with my darling WossyWww@Enter-QA@Com

Yes and no!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree with you all the way!. People are complaining when they don't even know the proper story, they're like sheep!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yeah just a bit!.!.!.!. its got people going on about it which is doing my brain in something rotten!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Total 100% agree with you on this in everything you say!.
It has taken years to break down stuffy grey suits of BBC and have "alternative" comedy on there!. They forget the younger audience that they have now got thanks to people like Ross and Brand!. I think what they did and said was out of line but do not need a public hanging over this issue!.
Ross is a married man with children who's wife suffers with depression this will do her good NOT!
I think Russell just did what he thought best and leave and did try and save Ross!.
I think Ross will feel really bad over this but he does not deserve to loose his job over it!.
I am not one of the younger people one of the older ones who does appreciate some alternative comedy lol

PS Noticed she has now made money from it and had publicity from it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

http://uk!.answers!.yahoo!.com/question/ind!.!.!.

also when did everyone start listening to the daily mail !?!?!? and when did parliament get involved in media issues when there are more important things going on !?!?!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

to be honest russell brand is an arrogant prick anyways, so probably for the best that he left, as the toffeenosed bbc tv license payers would rather watch songs of praise instead!.

i know why people would take offence, but complaining!?!? that takes too much effort if you ask me!.!.
Www@Enter-QA@Com

totally out of proportion
i understand why sachs and his family were offended but all the complaints are unbelievable, i think some people are doin it purely becuase of the hype
and its the BBCs fault, the show was prerecorded so whoever allowed it on air should be gettin the bootWww@Enter-QA@Com

Yes I completley agree with you there!.
OK I may just be a 16 year old girl but I do know that this is been blown way of of proportion!

The government getting invoved! instead of worry about the war in the middle east and the recent credit crunch and recension they are worry about a silly prank gone wrong by two 'comidians' who know that they were having a laugh but didn't think at the time!.

We all do it!. we all make mistakes!.
i wish they would shut up about it!.
i personally dislike Brand but enjoy watching Ross on fridays when Im on holidays!.

I may only be 16 but I do think your bang on right about all this!.

Take Care xWww@Enter-QA@Com

i think it was a mistake by Jonathon Ross and the real people to blame are the bbc bosses for broadcasting it in the first place,

for example Jonathan ross swears a lot on his tv show but they edit that out, they didnt have to put that bit on!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think its f**king hilarious!!!! I still can't stop laughing!. see if i knew BBC 2 was this interesting, I would be a regular listener, but i guess I wont be now they're gone! i think some people just have their panties strung up their asses, we all take the mickey out of celebrities, this is so not different from any stand up comedian does and people pay to watch it, in fact its not any different from the regular gossip magazines or the Sun!Www@Enter-QA@Com

but the thing is that its not just Ross and Brands fault, it was the BBC and the Daily Mail too!.

Right i know that the prank was wrong and not funny, but the show wasn't live, it was recorded!.
so the BBC could had done was not to Air it in the first place!.

But!.!.the Daily Mail shouldn't make a big deal out of it and come up with sh!t that Gordon Brown got involved, and blow it out of Proportion!.

and Finaly, Ross and Brand shouldn't had done it in the first place, but it was abit of a mistake for the both of them to do it in the first place!.

Www@Enter-QA@Com

its been completely blown out of proportion, you can obviously understand how him and his family were offended, but the producer should not have allowed it to have been broadcast, why are they not being criticised as much or even more than russel and jonathan are!? the fact that the government got involved in it just shows where there priorities are!. the amount of people complaining is obviously not the amount of people who actually listened to it!. what was funny though was that he actually did f**k his granddaughter (just my opinion)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes!. !. !. !.BBC will regret it!. !. !. The only reason it's such a big deal is because of the old man they ''verbally assaulted''!. !. !. !. !. !. !. !. !. !. !. !. !. !. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Totally!. All they did was reveal the truth, i don't know why the girl portrayed as the victim, she didn't exactly make an effort to keep her lifestyle a secret from her grandad did she, she has her pictures all over the internet and a website, does she really think he's that stupid, i expect he's more upset with her and that she took him for a mug rather than the actual phone messages, she is now taking advantage of the situation and grabbing money from giving her story to "The Sun" what a classy girlWww@Enter-QA@Com

YES!! they just got carried away!! they didnt mean any harm and they wernt lying cos russell did sleep wif georgina!! i love russell and i dont think its right that he shudv quitted over it tho i can see y he did!! i think jonathon ross should hav the dencency to quit to cos it was mostly his fault! it was a prerecorded show so the person that let it air should be the one who gets penalised!.!.!. not russell and jonathon!. the world has much more important things to think about like the credit srunch and global warning! Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think it's been blown out of proportion!. They certainly went too far in what they said but that wasn't a case of malice it was just a lack of thought for which they have apologised and I believe they are genuinely sorry!. They just didn't think at the time!.

Any offence caused to the public could have been avoided when it was broadcast as it's pre-recorded!. It seems daft that nobody is calling for the head of the person who made the decision to include that section of the recording when it went on air!.

And as far as I'm aware, in most of the news reports about it the complaints have been about Brand's comments about sleeping with Sachs' granddaughter, which turned out to be true, and Ross' remark about the suicide!. The suicide remark wasn't meant to be taken seriously and nobody seems to consider that the remarks about Georgina Baille were probably no more hurtful or offensive than her chosen career as a member of a burlesque dancing troop called the Satanic Sluts!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

All gone way over board!. It was a bit of humour and I think people are just jumping on the bandwagon in complaining!. I bet if Ross or Brand said the same thing at a stand up gig then no one would have battered an eyelid and everyone would have been laughing! Yes, it might have been a little insensitive to say it on radio but its a bit of humour!. They have both apologised so why cant people just say "Yep, they f**ked up, apologised about it so lets move on"Www@Enter-QA@Com
