Purity Rings aren't a big thing where I live - Essex, England!.
I do not know anyone who is waiting, or has waited, until marriage to have sex, it's just not a big deal here!. Fair enough, the Jonas Brothers want to wear them, but I also feel they're promoting the rings - trying to come across as all squeaky clean, and good little Disney stars!. It's a bit annoying!. Mainly Christians wear purity rings, and the bible tells not to have sex before marriage, so they are a visible sign of a commitment that you will agree to do that!. And as Christians, no matter what the pressures of the world are, you would rather be made fun of and stay true to God, then have to disobey Gods word because you have sex before marriage!. It isn't that bad anyways, if you don't have sex until marriage, then you won't know what you are missing out on anyways, its not a big deal!.

Non-Christians wear them because it makes a relationship stronger!. My teacher in my Psychology of Relationships class is not a Christian but he waited for marriage to have sex because it means much more than a physical thing- it is symbolically giving yourself to ONE other person!.
You may want to be careful with questions like this, they are very offensive!. I have had my purity ring for 3 years and I am 17!. It means a lot to me, and it is not "boring" like you say!. You know-- boyfriends and girlfriends can have fun in other ways than just having sex- try bowling, or mini golf, or just watching a movie!.

Not everyone believes in waiting for marriage but that doesn't make it wrong or stupid!. Self respect isn't old fashioned - its healthy! It says that YOU think that you care about yourself and expect respect from those whom you are in a relationship with!!
