They do rehearsals all through the week!. Plus, a lot of the people who are on the show have done sketch comedy in troupes or on stage, so they are pros!
And the make-up people are pretty good too!.

it's showbiz!. now, there are some things that aren't live (i!.e!. the digital shorts), but for the most part everything is live!. There are teams of makeup artists that are trained to change makeup on the actors incredibly quickly!. And usually the actors just need touch-ups, rather than a whole entire makeup change!.
