It's kind of like having your own favorite little "safe haven spot" where you can go and be away from everyone, with maybe only a few other people around who keep their distance, then it suddenly becomes public domain!.

No, most probably not because they have several other people who they like to be jealous too, so I doubt it!. But, who knows!.
And I think it's because when a band forms and starts to get fans, there are always teenage girls who become overly obsessive with them, and eventually the fan(s) who liked them before they were beyond famous, will most probably start to dislike all the attention!. Don't get me wrong, but I mean, that these girls go so crazy (I myself being a 13 yr old girl), and the original plain, and un obsessed fans, will sink away from their liking because they just dislike all these wild fans!.!.!.!? Except for punk music!.!.!. this happens because a punk band becomes famous and, thereby, conforms to the status quo!. Punks are a peculiar species!. They are a group of people who conform to the idea of not conforming, then disown all who conform!. What's that about!? Basically, they actually make any money at all and they become "the man!." Blah blah blah!.

They really don't do much other than stand in front of a camera and talk for a few seconds!. Then the director says "cut" and the crew does the real work!.

These people clearly don't like music for the sound or lyrics!. They only like music because it's "unknown" by most people, and liking "underground" music makes them "cool"!. If only people could just like what they like, regardless of how popular or unpopular it is!. There IS something called conforming to non-conformity, and these people do just that!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
When bands get famous, they let the fame go to their heads (USUALLY), and appreciate their fans less!.
Imagine how the fans feel, who loved said band from the beginning, when they feel so undermined by the band they love/loved!?
The OLD fans, who might have known about the band, REALLY appreciated their music, now have to deal with fans that like them only because they find them 'hot'!.
