It's hard to choose!. Both are AMAZING singers and both have their own distinctive voice and sound!. Mariah is famous for her whistle notes, while Xtina's voice is quite powerful compared to Mariah's!. And moreover, both are from different voice types, Mariah is a soprano where as Xtina is a mezzo-soprano, so it's hard to draw a comparison!.
However, if you're refering to the old-days Mariah (back in her early career), then I would say Mariah!. Mariah's voice has gotten worse these days although she can still sing!.
Xtina on the other hand also has some nice pipes but she has a tendency to oversing and do too much melismas and improvisations it just takes the song too far away from the original form!. I just wish she would just sing simpler and puts less improvisations!.
Overall, I would say: BOTH!. Coz they both have their share of strength and weaknesses!. And I don't think it's right to compare singers of their calibre to each other!. They both are great singers, we all know that, so we should more celebrate their talent and the art they provided to us instead of trying to creat an unnecessary "competition" here!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
