What are your views on the music downlaod "clampdown"?!

Question: What are your views on the music downlaod "clampdown"!?
I am from the UK and anyone else who is will know about the ISPs striking a deal with some copyright thingy-ma-jig to send warning letters to people who download songs on "illegal" p2p filesharing networks!.

I personally think this is a dumb move on their parts!. Think about it, how many people have downloaded a song or 2 of a band/artist they want to check out and then gone out and bought their albums, not to mention DVD's posters, gig tickets, t-shirts, etc!. People have shared music since LONG before the internet was around, with copying friend's and family member's albums etc!. Without downloads it will be very hard to find music hat isn't so commercial, as there won't be a way, I can't remember how many times I've downloaded for the simple fact that the shops just don't sell what I want and with the radio playing the same soulless corporate crap that isn't much help!.

My point is, yes I do download things but if I like what I hear I will buy the album anyway

I agree with you all the way!
I just now got high speed internet and it's so tempting with things like limewire and mininova out! Still, if there's something that I listen to I will defiantly go out and buy their album!. I mainly use it if I enjoy one or two of someone's songs!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I usually only download oldies so the artist is usually dead or lost their marbels on drink and drugs!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

nah i just download the albums as they go straight onto my ipod so i dont need a cdWww@Enter-QA@Com

I have bought albums after listening to them on youtube so I don't think it is valid to say that you take them off file sharing sites and then buy the album!.
However I would download them myself the only reason I dont is I found that limewire was full of viruses!.
It will never be stopped tho!. In years gone by we used to buy an LP every week in our work and all the staff recorded it onto tapes so i guess that was the same thing really we all chipped in a little bit and got our music!.
Sharing is caring and I would happily let someone I know have a copy of my music cds after all I can jst send it on msn or email so it is easy to do!. The record companies have ripped kids off for years and now they are screaming "UNFAIR" some people are copying our records !.!.!.!. Sod them if they do stop limewire and the likes I am sure it will be easy enough togather enough internet freinds to share their music by email etc!.
Hey does anyone want a copy of my beatles cd or david grey or pink floyd or max bygraves !.!.!.!. max bygraves!? well maybe not!Www@Enter-QA@Com
