From what I heard, they took Katie out because she caused a lot of trouble during the movie promotion because of her relationship with Tom Cruise, and since people don't really like Tom, people started disliking Katie as well, and the production blamed Katie for the lack of success for the movie, so they decided to take her out for the second movie!.

Katie holmes wasn't able to do it, i think she had already signed on to do mad money or some other movie, so they went with maggie!. i guess they thought since they sort of looked alike, that people wouldn't notice!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
