she used to be so phenomenal when she first came out! she could hit notes that nobody else could!.!.!. now she sings in this whispery strange voice!.!.!. what's up with that!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yeah I noticed that too!. But somehow many people, presumably those who don't know anything about music, still think that her voice is still in top shape!. I'm not saying that her voice is totally damaged, but if you listen carefully to her newer releases compared to her old ones, you can see that "the voice" is no longer there!. It becomes airy, whispery, hoarse, less powerful, and she couldn't hit those high notes as smooth as she used to!. Plus, she lip-synchs some parts of her songs in her concerts now!. Back in her prime, she never needed to lipsynch!. But NOW!?!?!?
And if I can analyze why it happened, I guess it's due to various reasons!. The main reason was probably the fact that she overused her voice!. She has a tendency to oversing every song that she sings!. And in the 90's, she released albums nearly every single year and she toured a lot the whole time with less time to sleep!. Not to mention she sang the most ridiculous high notes humans could possibly reach, so of course it took a toll on her voice because she kept using and straining her vocal chord too much!. Plus, she had a very un-healthy lifestyle where she used (and I see that she still is) to party all night long and drank too much alcohol!. Any musicians know that if you wanna keep your voice in a good shape, it's best to avoid alcohol, smoke and stuff like that!. I also heard that she's an imsomniac!. If you don't get enough rest/sleep, how would you be able to maintain the condition of your voice!? And one other thing to ponder is her AGE!. No, I'm not saying that she is too old, but do you know that the human voice is not mature yet until the age of 40's!? Yep!. It happens to any singers, despite their genre, incl!. Mariah!. In Mariah's case, she used to be a (lyric) coloratura soprano!. Now, if she was in vocal shape, her voice would blossom beautifully and become stronger and bolder regardless her age!. Like a fine wine, normally the voice should become BETTER with age!. But instead, her voice becomes weaker and worse!. If I may say, she tends to sound more like a lyric soprano now instead a mature coloratura!. I guess it's her oversinging that contributes to her vocal type change!. So you see, age has NOTHING to do with her vocal deterioration!. People can still sound good no matter how old he/she is!. It's not the age per se that's causing it, it's the BAD HABBIT and BAD TECHNIQUE that can make your voice damaged!.
NOTE: if you compare her whistle notes in "Emotions" with "Bliss" (from the Rainbow album), you'll know what I mean!. The songs "After Tonight" (also from the Rainbow album) and "Through The Rain" (from Charmbracelet) could've been great ballad songs if she only SANG THEM RIGHT!. She used too much head voice in those two songs!. She doesn't use her chest notes (like in Hero, My All, Vision of Love, I'll Be There, Anytime You Need A Friend etc) because she can't do it (too much) anymore!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm a lot older, but I've noticed it too!. Perhaps because she is older now or is trying to appeal to the younger audience that seems to like singers that have that softer baby voice!. She did have an incredible voice!. She still is a top seller!. Who knows!Www@Enter-QA@Com
