Is Tyra Banks a Bad role model?!
Question: I LOVE tyra banks. My dad seems to hate the fact that i like her. I really dont see why. She doesnt dance on tables, she doesnt do drugs, she doesnt even drink! All he can say is that shes loud and an oprah wannabe. He is constantly putting me down for liking her, saying i want to be her and i wish i was black and **** like that. I dont see whats wrong with her. The most controversial story ive ever read about tyra was about her weight with the beach photos. I used to love paris hilton i think tyra is a majjjoor improvement.

she is definetly a beautiful woman and very strong and smart.
You dad is maybe just 'worried' or 'jealous' of his daughther in a good way.
Maybe he sees some dangers in your admirtation not just for the 'person' tyra but for the 'fashion world' that sometimes could be scary expecially for those who doesn't really know it.
Just have your model of beauty and carisma, but always think with your own mind and have your own personality.
There is nothing better than an original and unique person able to understand when is time to stand out of the crow!
From Paris to Tyra, yes, it's a big improvement.

I think that she is a great role model. She is happy in her own skin and loves who she is even with her flaws. :) There isn't anything wrong with her at all. I think that she is great, fun-loving person :D
I don't think she's a bad role model, but that's just judging by what I know. There may be some bad things about her that I just don't know, but I agree with you... She seems like a good role model. She's not in the tabloids near as much as Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears. And it's most definitely a great improvement from Paris Hilton. It doesn't matter what your dad says... You look up to who YOU want to be like.
A role model has nothing to do with dancing on tables or topless photos, it has to do with how you conduct yourself when the spotlight is not on. It has to do with her character, and how she treats others. And by all accounts, she is just about the worst person you could pick when it comes to this.
No problem with Tyra at all! She seems like a complete person who is happy to let her viewers see her "flaws" as well as her beauty.
Shes not a bad role model in the sense that she does drugs or sleeps around....but shes extremely stupid and annoying. IF thats what you want to be, great role model. But seriously, you can do better. Try finding an accomplished writer or social worker if your looking for an actual role model.
If you have to idolize someone, I think Tyra is way better than Paris. I can't stand either of them though. They both seem very shallow, fickle, and materialistic. BUT...one good thing about Tyra is the fact that she isn't a drugged up booze jockey like so many people in the media. If she inspires you to better yourself in some way, or reach for a goal, don't worry about your dad.
Heck no she's not a good role model! She's been in the news how many times for throwing things at people? Just recently she threw her cell phone at someone. She's a spoiled brat.
Much better to idolize Tyra and Paris that's for sure.

I too like Tyra. Part of the reason that Tyra is a better role model than Paris and some of the others is because she is mature enough to understand the power of mass media - and she uses that not only for her own profit - but also to help young women. She has a mission to uplift young women and I find her show to be pretty positive.
Tyra also embraces her culture and often seems to simply just be herself. Many people have a problem with that - and she also talks openly about different issues. She shows a lot of her emotions too - which is interesting. If your dad doesn't give a reason for not liking her that is about character (she parties all the time, she drinks heavily etc.), he might have a problem with her culture and her personality.
yeah she is a great role model and has done a lot of charity work in her own time, and worked with unfortunate children. and she let people see what she looks like with NO make up on at all when she removed it all on her show!! she wants people to be comfortable with themselves and doesnt want every woman to be a clone of the "ideal" woman with great skin, big breasts a great figure and great features.
paris hilton on the other hand- what were you thinking girl???
I think shes a great role model. I know tons of people that look up to her. & she is a major improvement from Paris!
