1st: Publicity, publicity, publicity. Think about it; if you're dating a HUGE star, that will land you lots of publicity, because you're known for being "together."

2nd: Stars usually aren't that connected with people other than famous people, especially if they were in the business since they were small. They just become friends with other famous people.

That's a good question. I would never date/marry someone who is in the same profession as I am. There would be too much competition, envy and jealousy. I would agree with the other posters who say it is publicity.
