The Rolling Stones are ROCK! love em! I like all those groups you mentioned. The folks of today just don't measure up to those bands in talent, style, or quality of songs. What about early Aerosmith from the 1970's!?
Yes, I love the classics but like System of a Down, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Shinedown as well. I can only listen to Stairway to Heaven, Free Bird and Dream On so many times before knowing every note.
I see you left out the Doors. I think as far as the older stuff goes, the Doors and the Mamas and the Papas I could sit and listen to for hours to this day~

The lyrics...still holds its ground in todays context.. Lyrics....composition....aura...they are all missing in todays musicians. I guess we'll have to time n again revisit the oldies to get a real high!
