Britney Spears without a doubt. Even though her life has spun out of control over the last two years, the media and critics love her and top music producers are standing in line just to work with her. They are routing for her to have a successful comeback. I watched her last night on How I Met Your Mother and she was pretty good, adorable and funny.
Beyonce is the more talented of the two, but her record sales and popularity don't even measure up to Britney Spears.
Britney is more popular because of all the bad press she is getting right now. No one will ever forget her that is for sure.
Britney Spears may get alot of press, but Beyonce Knowles is more popular for the right reasons. Britney was a good little pop star singer, but that's about it. I wish her well, but Beyonce, on the other hand, is a truly talented singer. I think it's she who will be an icon of this generation.

Beyonce is the better singer and has little if any drama surrounding her, is beautiful and has an acting career as well, but honestly I don't like her. Maybe its just me but she appears sooo full of herself and idk I will turn the channel if shes on it and I begrudgingly sat through Dreamgirls.
Britney can't really sing, can dance her *** off and has nothing but drama around her. However I'm pulling for Britney, even though she appears to be a nut she is still likeable and if she gets her act together will most definitely be the icon.

SHAKIRA rules: she sings, compose, dance and she is way hotter than any other. Plus she behave like a lady with a lot of class, education and respect; and is also a very nice and fun person.
Besides Brietney is just an icon for clueless-people she missed her oportunity of bieng a legend, she is the next Anna Nicole Smith NOT the next Madonna, she is no match for Beyonce any more. Another proof that being smart helps.
Britney Spears is currently the most successful artist of her generation. She became an instant hit and phenomenon with her very first single and album. Her record sales and global popularity trumps Beyonce Knowles. She will make a comeback and have the last laugh. She will be an icon.
Beyonce Knowles seems desperate, fake and too commercial. She is forced down our throats and her acting annoys me.
Come on -- there's no comparison here! -- I can't see Britney in Dream Girls and she doesn't have the stage presence or class that Beyonce does. .
