Why did David Bowie call himself "Bowie"?!
Question: Like why did he change his last name to that, as in where did it come from ect?

I know he changed his name from Jones to avoid confusion with the singer of the Monkees although he had written some songs under his real name. I could well be wrong but it may be after the one of the heroes of the Alamo battle in Texas who had the Bowie knife named after him.
