Celebrities can get away with things that if someone else said it, may cause offence or shock. Yahoo has to be careful, they can't go around promoting words or phrases that COULD offend someone, even if it doesn't offend the majority. You'll always find someone who wants something to complain about.
Yahoo Answers and American Idol have nothing to do with each other.
What you can say at home....maybe banned from school.
