Question: Beyonce is currently filming a new movie as legendary blues singer, Etta James. I really like Beyonce as a entertainer, but I don't think she is a very good actress.
So why do they keep giving her movie roles when there are so many underrated and seasoned actresses that have major acting talent?

Most of the people who would bother to go see a movie with Beyonce don't even know who Etta James is. They're going simply to see Beyonce.
"Underrated" is the key word here. They need someone OVERRATED to fill this role & bring in the $.
Film makers could find dozens of talented & worthy singers to play the part but they seem more concerned with making money than making a realistic depiction of a great singer.
beyonce sucks. she cant act, sing, or dance.
I know what you mean they should give that role to Queen Latifah she's a good actress and singer than Beyonce,and has more class.
Beyonce is not getting hired for her acting talent, she is getting hired because she is a popular singer with a built in fan base. The movie executives are just using her to sell their movie just like they do with Jessica Simpson. The movie is called Cadillac Records. It is the story of a record company that produced blues and jazz singers back in the 50's. I don't think many people will be running to the theatres to see this. Once Beyonce's steam cools off, she will no longer be hand picked for movies and will have to start auditioning for movie roles.
Well let's face it, the girl has star power and that brings in the bucks, and the studios are banking on that, they are going to have to really work with her like they did in Dream Girls to really bring this character out. I wish them the best!
