Is anyone else tired of actors/actresses shoving their political opinions down o!

Question: We pay to watch them entertain us, not stand on a soapbox and talk about China and Daufur. George Clooney is the latest in pressuring Omega Watches (an Olympic sponsor and for whom Clooney happily takes money as a spokesperson) to pressure Bejing to "leverage with the government of Sudan".

Shut up already OR stop taking money from Omega Watches!

Thoughts?

I agree. These people make a living out of acting, so who is to say that they are acting like they care about a cause. They play on our assumption that they are just normal people, but they are not. They will find any way to be out in the forefront. Their worth is definitely in entertaining us, leave the politics to those that do the grueling work of politics.

"...we must use our acting powers for good."
-Team America

the same thoughts right her dude

Yes, terribly! it's ridiculous!

I never listen to them. most of them are hypocrits like Rosie O'Donnel who wants gun control and yet she carries guns for protection

totally - and its even sadder that people form their opinions based on what these actors/actresses say

I'm with you, but only to a certain point. Most of the time I find hollywood types totally annoying. However, there have been times when they bring attention to worthwhile causes that benefit from the attention to their celebrity.

You did hear them though

They have the stage and have the ability to be heard
I'm sure they feel a moral obligation to use their celebrity status to get the word out

At least they are doing something constructive with their status

No one's forcing you to watch their movies, you know.

finally someone understands!

Yes, I get really annoyed. I'm not saying that celebrities are not people and so don't have a say I just think that they are famous for what they are famous for (i.e. acting, singing, football etc) and they should NOT under any circumstance be allowed to abuse their power by using their fame for one thing to raise points and issues about important things such as politics or race etc. Most of them are role models for young children and this is not acceptable. I remember when a guy called Glen Hoddle (I think he was a footballer) stated that disabled people are people that were evil in another life reincarnated. PLEASE! Thank goodness he got it in the neck.

I feel the same act sing do whatever it is that made u famous above and beyond that go live your life and keep your opions to yourself

By the way Mrs. Anderson I wear fur!!!

Nope I don't have a problem with it. They're allowed to express their opinions just as much as a normal person is. They're not automatons designed to please you, they have their own lives to. Also I like listening to George Clooney's opinion on thinks like Daufur because unlike a lot of celebrities he actually has something intelligent to say.

Oh I am so sick of it! Just because they have the forum they feel that their opinion is so important. Get over yourselves!

So, if a person is a celebrity they automatically give up their first amendment rights?

That's nice.

They can say whatever they want....no one is forcing you to listen!
