Why do people obsess over famous stars (like Britney Spears)?!

I saw an episode of 'Unexplained Mysteries' dedicated to this
because the people who like to read about those stars have no life so they rad about other people fed up lives just to make their lives betrter
britney spears, that i don't understand. i don't find her that amusing.
because they have immortality. We all want to be remembered after death.. for good or for bad. Also because they have money and fame. People deep down want to see what makes people like that special.
Maybe they see the same type of characteristics these celebrities were displaying in themselves, and wonder if they'll turn out as screwed up because of it. Or don't want to believe the celebrity is anything but good or that they can turn their lives around, because they see themselves somehow in them.

They're mad because they can't go out with her so they follow her around and take pictures of her so they can tell everyone that they took a picture of her and post the pics up on their walls and tell stories about her. They're creepos..

And because we love them, or love to hate them, we can add points to our lists.
Just a life thing, its been happening for centuries, only before it used to be queens and people like that..
