You are absolutely right. Y!A needs a Jim Morrison section and I can be the top contributor and top best answers. Putting my arrogance aside, there is no way that I could possibly tell you everything about Jim or The Doors in just one answer without it being extremely long. I would suggest looking into the books written about Jim, in general those are good for information but all of them are not exactly according to truth, as it gets changed or twisted over the years. Some good ones that I would suggest are Light My Fire by Ray Manzarek, Riders on the Storm by Robby Krieger, and A Feast of Friends by Frank Liscardio. All of these books are written by people who knew and cared about Jim so you know the information is not made up. You should also look into reading Jim's poetry, they sell his poetry books in all major bookstores, they are usually located in the Rock section, (although I sometimes move them to the poetry section where they truly belong) I also suggest listening to interviews with Jim in them, it is a true insight into his character and personality. (these interview Cd's can be bought through iTunes) In other answers The Doors movie was referenced. That movie is alright for entertainment value but information wise it sucks. It is full of lies and the truth has been twisted. Personally I think it portrayed Jim's character in a ways that really is not and most people who do not know much about Jim or The Doors take it to be fact, which isn't their fault, it is Oliver Stones for saying it is fact. If you want any more info on The Doors or Jim e-mail me, I love writing and answering about them, it seriously makes my day.

the doors made good music and morrison sang good, but he was a drug addict and a drunk.... then again, so are most politicians, so what the hell... give him his own category.

Jim Morrison was a singer, poet, songwriter, writer, and film director. He was born in Melbourne, Florida. It's rumored he died of a heroin overdose.

mmmm... if you haven't seen it yet, watch the movie The Doors by Oliver Stone, you could rent it or buy for less than 10 bucks, the special features have a documentary of him and the doors... anything else I say will just be overused info : /
but we do need a special section for Jim Morrison...

He was the front man for the Doors. Had a really good voice to!!
