Why is everyone upset about Amy Winehouse's Grammys?!
Question: It seems the biggest complaint is that they are awarding her partying/doing drugs all year and generally being a *****. Come on. They give people Grammys for good music, not for how clean they are or how many charities they donate to. I agree though, she's a ****.

The largest reason I'm upset about Amy Winehouse winning 5 grammies is it speaks out about the state of American musical taste, i.e., "Rehab" winning best song. I thought this song was an embarrassment to any station that played it and was blown away to learn it was actually even nominated. Being a musician myself, I felt it lacked true talent and sounded like an amateur composition. The fact that a poorly written song about refusing to receive help for a drug addiction resonated most with the Grammy voters really makes me question their musical credibility.
I think the biggest travesty though is that Amy beat out Maroon 5 for best Pop Album. Maroon 5's album was masterfully done, and it was the only album I actually heard people talking about in the community.
However, I think a lot of people are upset because they feel the reason she won was not because of her music but because everyone was rooting for her because of all the drama surrounding her. I don't care about this and don't think it should be a factor, but it is sad to me that America glorifies celebrities with drug problems.
I mean, I'm not upset. Grammys are about music, not about the artists' personal life and struggles. We all have struggles, so why keep her from getting the award if her music deserves it?
But yeah...she seemed kind of spaced out!
i heard amy winehous (or whatever her last name is) got 5 grammys? she wasnt even there to accept them! if they are going to have one person sweep the show with most of the grammys, the least they can do is give them to someone that made the effort to go to the show! she only got the awards because she said "I'm not gonna go to rehab... NO NO NO." well - yea. she did.
it wasnt even that good of a song! and most likely a one hit wonder.
Note to Krista: Amy has had too many worldwide hits to be called a "one hit wonder". You're obviously not very well connected, or you'd be able to name "You Know That I'm No Good" at the very least.
If they didn't give a Grammy to someone just because they did drugs then they wouldn't give out Grammy's to everyone. Come on that's crazy to think that people don't deserve it because of their drug habits. They should get it because of the music they make. Also for whomever it was that said she couldn't bother to attend. She's been in rehab for the past few weeks in England and was going to leave to perform and attend, but couldn't get a work visa to perform so she chose to do the right thing and stay there and continue her rehab.
I think she deserved to win. She's extremely talented, and the Grammys are not about sobriety. That's a personal issue, that I hope Ms. Whinehouse can conquer.
rehab isnt even that geat of a song, TAYLOR SWIFT should have one best artist!!!
i agree that even if people do drugs, party and stuff like that, they should only be judge for their music. but it does seem a little unfair to win. anwayz i hate her music.
She does need to get help for that addiction, but I am happy for her. But I also heard that Natalie Cole (not on the show) was reported saying that Winehouse should have not won that GRAMMY cuz "Rehab" gives a bad message.
Well, I can't really disagree with Natalie Cole. I had thought that Winehouse needed a more positive image song other than "Rehab", no matter how good it sounds.
I wasn't upset.
