(On the proposed new paparazzi law in L.A.) Why does this look like they are sus!

Question: The claim that the only "true press" in Los Angeles is "credentialed press" only, where does that leave the indies that end up being the ones that bring in the earth shaking stories.to the forefront?

L.A.City Council trying to cite the recent hospital trip of Britney Spears, where the L.A.P.D.'s time was burned up for a land/air escort, is hardly the fault of the press alone.

Start treating Spears and other celebs the same as the police treats you & I, and see if they continue to make an **** of themselves.

Since when is stalking, annoying, pestering and endangering people freedom of the press? No, I think LA City Council is doing the right thing in this case...and they need to make it clear this is about keeping the scumbag papparazzi at bay, and not about hindering legitimate members of the media.

Last year, when I was in Malibu and in Hollywood, I saw some of those paparazzi wolves in action. Talk about a pack of rude louts! One of those mofos darn near knocked me over in their big rush to get a picture. The guy didn't even look back, let alone apologize!

Besides, it's not really about treating the celebrity "special"...it's about the city covering their butts in case an innocent bystander gets hurt. Is it going to take having someone get killed, say a child of a tourist, to finally get the message across?

Given the rampant and outright lying perpetrated by the media I find myself in a position of being able to support the concept of an oversight board that has authority to fine, force retractments and otherwise penalize them.
I would have this board mostly made up of public representatives, a minority representation for business and also government.
The media needs oversight the only censoring they "tolerate" is that of the alternative media that actually tells the truth.
