wel lthey do it for the ourpose of the show. some shows base there judges on target audience ect and like the x factor some sowns use them so that the judges are chose for diffrent personalitys.
you c its all about getting the audience drawn in to the show.
the use siomon for his mean personality as it creates a bit of drama and so people will talk about him just like you have =]

they could try becoming a singer the old fashion way

every competiton has some way of making the decision of the winner
whether its fair to the person or not
He's the man who signs these people up for big record deals so I think he is quite within his rights to say what he thinks is good and whats bad.
Because he is part of the crowd that watches these things often which makes him qualified to judge. You wouldn't want an expert chef to judge food because he will be biased and pick foods that taste similar to his own creations. That's why most taste tester/food reviewers aren't cooks themselves; they aren't any good at cooking but they are expert at tasting/eating. Likewise, Simon is an expert judge and tells it like it is.
He is experienced...His ear and clinical eye in the field are enough qualities. He knows his job even if he is openly sincere and even rude at times..

It is his job, I am sure you can appreciate a good voice and I am sure when you watch a really bad singer on the telly you think to yourself 'Who's strangled the cat'.
Simon Cowell is honest and up front and if I was a singer I would like to go up in front of him for his opinions and lets get real here, the people that go on the reality shows or even give him a recording to listen to, put themselves up to be judged.
With a lot of the people surely they know they can't sing, or their friends and family know. Don't you think that they should be telling their loved ones that they wouldn't advise them to go on National TV and sing rather than the man who has signed a lot of very successful bands?
It's easy to get jelous that he is making money out of it but hey I certainly would if I could too.
