On Home Improvement(Tim Allen show) why do they never show Willcons chin???!


Question: I've been really curious why on every episode Willson's chin is never shown! Its not a coincidence its obvious that theirs something with the actor, or something with the show, i dunno...can someone explain??

It's on purpose. Tim Allen wanted a character that reminded him of a neighbor he had when he was younger who's face he never saw. The first guy they cast ended up dropping the show because he didn't like the idea of his face being covered. So the guy who plays Wilson on the show is actually a second choice. But it's supposed to be a joke.

I know this because I watched Home Improvement True Hollywood Story last week.

It was just a running gag that they did. Usually it's more than his chin, it's the whole lower part of his face. They would do something funny to hide his face, like have him hold books he was "reading" way up close. It was just something funny they did.

Because of his lips. I saw them when they finished the show, they arent very attractive.

Wilson was played by Earl Hindman who, sadly, passed away at only 60 years old in 2003. Earl was a cast member of the soap opera "Ryan's Hope" for many years. You can see all of him at this tribute page:
