Is a good reputation more important than talent?!

Question: Why are so focused on the artist’s life and not so much on their work? Makes me believe a person can be successful just by having and keeping a good life record. Why do we want them to be so perfect when they are just like…us…?

We put stars in an almost angelic form.It's put upon them to have an impeccable code of conduct.When they appear human they step off their pedastal,and their talent also comes into question.Britney Spears is a tragic testament to the fall of a star.Having to live up to stardom,and followed by droves of reporters that hounded her,has now apparently pushed her over the edge.I personally hope Britney gets her head together and decides to fade into a quiet life,because rhe media is relentless.

Because we are all hypocrites.

i think it is what we want 2 show other people that they are really good people and they have great talent

It's absolutely the opposite. We want all famous people, not only artists, to fall. Those whom live regular lives, do not grab our interest. We want them to be under the microscope because is a good excuse for us to justify our own inadequacies. Their work is meaningless, their miseries "priceless".

We are focused on their lives because that is an important thing too. Lemme give you an example;

Miley Cyrus. She's on the Disney Channel. Girls everywhere look up to her aka Hannah Montana. so when these pictures float around the internet of her kissing a 22 year old guy on the cheek (which there is nothing wrong with) and her goofing off with friends in her PJ's, people react because they don't want their daughter acting like that. Performers are public figures, and role models, whether we like it or not. They influence EVERYTHING - fashion, behavior, lifestyle, etc.

I don't think its right that we put them on their high horse and worship them like Gods - and I don't. But many do, and I agree, they ARE just like us. But so much more popular, capable of so much more influence.

Not if success and money is what you are after.
