yes, but it isn't so much the money as it is the fame. When everyone knows who you are and likes you, you are bound to get special treatment and priviledges. Many people feel that doing a star a "favor" will somehow engratiate them and make them part of the star's circle. So yes, people do tend to bend over backwards for stars. I doubt that just any old rich person gets treated so well!

Oh ya !! That's why the WGA waited to strike when they did because they knew the awards were coming up and at these awards they t bags full of jewelry and all kinds of expensive stuff. They get comped at so many places they eat and at 5 star Hotels just for the publicity these places get, and the worse thing of all is they can afford it more that any average Joe who works 5 or 6 days a week until their retirement age then the average Joe draws a social aec. check that barely gets their bills paid.
