It's ridiculous. I've often wondered why we couldn't have a caucasian history month...I'm sorry but, I'm not the one who enslaved them as a race and guess what?! They were never slaves either! The sooner they stop whining then the sooner they'll stop being treated differently. I don't get it, they are allowed to have pride because they have dark skin? Are we less special because some of us come from Ireland or Scotland...Get over it!

The shows played on that channel are directed towards people who are african american (are they not?) and the genres of music that are played on that station are generally rap, hip-hop and r&b. (by african american artists)

Are you not getting enough white entertainment now? Too many people of color on your TV? Seriously would you care if there was a Polish Entertainment Network? Face it you just don't like black folk.

It's a white man's world.

Most other channels besides BET and Telemundo are for white people and white people make money off those channels.
Most clothing companies Besides FUBU and others are owned by white people and white people at the very top make all the money.
Black history month, White people have the other 11

I could go on but white people rule the world and when you are black or any minority you stick together and create your channels in clothing or whatever.

nick c said it totally right.

...it's brought about by "racial" ignorance (a lack of knowledge)... the "phrase" African-American in the 21st Century makes no sense at all ... I challenge any person of the Negro race to show me where their "father" was born...? then their "grandfather"... "If" they can show me that either one of them was actually born in Africa, then, would "they" have direct linage to the African Continent... My father was born in New York... his father (my grandfather) was born in Russia (and came to America in 1915)... I was born in NYC, I'm an American...not a Russian-American (I have Russian Teutonic linage but no claim to it as my "ethnic" identity as,like I mentioned...my birth certificate indicates NYC of the USA. So when you hear individuals identifying themselves as African-American, unless "they" were born there...they are confused by Political correctness and geographical ignorance... Television stations like BET only continue to drive a racial "wedge" deeper between the humanities. To "quote" an famous/infamous Negro, Rodney King... "can't we all just get along". (By the way... words like Negro, Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian are NOT racial slurs... they are Anthropological identifiers for racial demographics. accepted by main-stream science). The NAACP, sadly uses a "racial" identifier as "C"=colored and the NNCF used the "N"-Negro (College fund)...go figure....?

what kind of question is that lol ???? You say "africn americans have Bet music channel" as if other people aren't allowed to watch the channel or as if they only show blacks on the channel, It appeals to "black" culture...you don't see black people complaining about July 4th which is a holiday that honors independence for this country in a time when blacks didn't have any independence......did you know that BET is now owned by a white man?....he obviously doesn't have a problem with it lol maybe you should take it up with him....

and for the person who said all that stuff about askin "negro" people about their ancestors, WAKE UP!...i may not know about all my ancestors but when i walk down the streets people see me as african american....

so lets be real people and stop nit-picking everything

Damn it's a freakin channel on tv, It's not like we told other races they couldn't watch it. It was started by a Black man who wanted to share something with his people why is that a problem. Again with the clothes thing designed in mind for African Americans why is that bad again? At the time Rap, soul, and R&B was taking its own path so Africans Americans needed outlets and to do our own thing excuse us if were being like everyone else in this world.
Please find something way better to critizise us about and look at white america before you go passing judgement or whatever on african americans.
PEACE!!!!

Gotta go with Gypsygal on this one. I'm from French and Native American ancestry. Where's my special treatment?
