I have no idea. But someone I used to work with was all about them to the point of taking time off of work. I couldn't care less about them for the reasons you state. I don't need to see silly people who make too much money pat each other on the back. Get a real job. They are all self-possessed. We have real problems that just get pushed to the back burner because they are difficult to address, let alone solve.
When I was a kid I liked to look at the glamorous clothes, and I guess I still do. I also think people like to have others validate their opinions, so we tune in to see if those "in the know" agree with us.
