Why am I so sad over Heath Ledgers death?!

Question: I am an adult, married mother of 2. I don't follow tabloids or celebrity info much. I "love" Heath Ledger, but honestly knew nothing of him but the movies that I liked. Still, I am crushed that he is gone. I've been sad all week, fighting off tears and don't feel like I can ever enjoy his movies again without crying. I try to rationalize that this is silly. I didn't even know him. But still, I can't stop being sad...

you are not the only one, hun. I am married, mom of two, also, and I loved a few of his movies, It is so sad to see someone so full of life and talent to die, so young, hence the term, " tragic". He did not do drugs "cept perscription, did not drink and was not of the Hollywood " party" scene. That is what makes this all so sad. He was one of the few actrors that was not the young " boytoy" that most Hollywood actors become these days, and he was a man with deep talents and wanted to make the most of them, and to make movies of some worth. Hand me the box of Kleenex, will ya?

thats what she said. thats also weird. I too cried during Brokeback Mountain because I was laughing too hard. I fell to the ground of the theater and they had to remove me because I wouldnt stop because they were just soo gay.

You are probably refusing to grasp his death. I am not a huge fan of heath, but my mind won't let me grasp the fact that death is out there. Advice: Don't let someone you don't know "ruin" your life.
I'm not sayong that he is ruining your life, but you shouldn't mourn for a long period of time. You are a fan but you didn't know him personally.

I understand how you feel and I too get emotional sometimes about celebrities. Like how Britney's life has been on a downward spiral lately. I have actually cried over it. I think it's just the feeling we get because we see another human being in such pain. Obviously Heath's pain is over but we can feel a since of triumph which we share with his family. It's just sympathy that we feel when we see our fellow people in pain.

When you become a parent (mother), you get very emotional at the weirdest things!

Like window commercials for instance. =..(

I've been a bit down over it, too. I was a big fan and we're just about the same age. I guess I can relate.

I am down on it as well. He was well respected and was an amazing actor. As an aspiring actress, I look up to people like Heath. Losing him is a horrible thing. I think people miss him so much because he kept to himself, he was a great father and took his work seriously.

it's normal. my mom reacted the same way...well she didnt cry but she was really really sad. she's an adult, married mother of 2 children too. she was crushed. she didnt know anything about him like u but she really loved his movies. especially the patriot. she was like he was such a good actor and when he died in his movies it was actually like he was really gone. and yesterday when we were in the car my mom told me, i still cant believe that he's gone. i just cant believe it. it doesnt matter that ur an adult, if an actor has really "touched" you through his roles then it hurts when they're gone.

I've been feeling the same way. The entire week I've been teary eyed and depressed. I liked his movies but I didn't follow his every move or anything...so I'm very surprised at how I'm reacting to his death.

I think it has a lot to do with how young he was [28]. Whenever someone young dies, it just seems wrong, like they were cheated. It's also jarring to think how we have no control over when we die...it could be at any moment. We have to realize that Death isn't only for the sick and old. He also has a young daughter and for me, whenever I hear about his death, I just think of that poor little girl who will never know her father.

It's interesting though, all of the legends died young: Marilyn, James Dean, Elvis was fairly young...

"Only the good die young."

it was actually a lot more sad when sean taylor died. He was killed, heath ledger did himself in

I am so glad I am not the only one who feels this way. I was a very big fan of Heath, but I obviously did not know him personally or spend much time thinking about his personal life. I have been so sad and depressed over this the past few days I was beginning to think I was nuts... I have spent hours on the computer reading about him ( not his death, but rather all of the amazing things he encountered in life). He was a beautiful soul with a smile that could melt any heart-RIP Heath-gone, but never forgotten:(
