Don't you think Writer's Strike is ridiculous?!
Question: I mean everyone in Hollywood makes a lot more money than they deserve (noone deserves millions of dollars per a movie!)
They are people dying from hunger and a bunch of writers think people support them because they want more money.

I understand where you're coming from but they're all people who work for a living.
If a doctor went on strike what would you think? That he deserves more money because he saves lives?? Or that he 'shouldn't' be paid more money because he chose the job in the first place??
When the Friends cast asked for a final payout for their last episode did you raise your eyebrows? I'd imagine not.
As for people dying from hunger. There are people in your 'own country' in this position. When did you last try to make a difference there? When did you last rally to drop the third world debt?
If you were in a job, just like the writers, where you felt that what you were being paid was far below the millions that your work was selling for, wouldn't you feel a little used too?
On the other hand, people who work 'because' of the writers such as film crew and sound engineers find themselves out of work for reasons and actions beyond their control. They're the kind of working class people who i feel for. And i mean that from the bottom of my heart. It's kind of like my boss coming into work in the morning and telling me that he didn't feel like working anymore.

no, the writers deserve a fair cut of everything just like the actors & everyone else. without the writers, there is nothing! (as we've all seen, since all our favorite shows are still gone!) as much as it sucks not having the office, heroes, or anything else to look forward to.. i support them.
i totally agree, its not that they dont get enough money, its that they know that the producers and companys they work for get more, but that is how capitalsim works!

and saying the writers make less than the box office is stupid coz if the film fails the box office looses money, not the writers, the writers dont take the risks or have the money up front to pay for production. there are tonnes of writers but only few companies with the means to make a film.
No it isn't ridiculous. Many writers are completely screwed over by Hollywood...you really should research it before you decide.
Writers are given maybe 50,000 in some cases for a movie that later ends up grossing 800 million...how is that a fair share? You'd be p!ssed too.

I feel it's unfortunate. But I mean while they're bitching about money we take for granted the fact that true they make an unheard amount of money and there's people starving etc. But what are we doing? Sitting on Yahoo! Answers pissing and moaning about our favorite TV shows not being on.
Get the details before you ask questions like this. Not all of these writers make millions. In fact, most of them don't make nearly a million dollars a year. They are supporting families and also have to pay for healthcare and what not. As part of a union, they have the right to strike in order to get what they believe is fair treatment. It's the producers alliance that are the ones making the money and not giving an inch. Just because you can't watch your little teen dramas on the CW doesn't mean the strike is ridiculous. Just by watching a movie or a TV show you are helping to pay the stars and writers and producers their paychecks. Think about that....
I don't think it's so ridiculous. These people are the ones that make the shows you love interesting...without them, there would be no show. Why should they get cut out of making money when the studio's and actors are making royalties on the DVD releases? That is what the basic underlying cause for the strike is...the studio's refusal to give the writers royalties on the shows that are now selling like hot cakes on DVD. Seems like a reasonable request in my humble opinion since without them, there wouldn't even be a script to perform.
The millions of dollars made in Hollywood that you speak of are paid for by us, the consumer (i.e. they make all that money because we watch). If we stop watching, they don't make all that money.
As for the writers, all they are doing, I think, is want a bigger "piece of that pie". What they are hoping to get a little bit of what those "rich and famous" types have. I'm guessing that in their mind, they, like you, believe that some people are getting rich, and its not them, which is unfair, since in many cases, the writers are the ones who tell these good-looking/famous faces what to say when the camera lights are on....

They aren't getting paid royalties.
They are only paid for writing it. That's once. Everyone else is paid again, and again, and again, from downloads, DVDs, royalties, etc. That's a lot that they don't get. Yes, there are people starving and when you think about whoever needs money more it is selfish, but it's their art. They want you to pay for it.
Well, it is reasonable that the writers deserve the money for their own masterpieces, however, the companies should be paying them! It's not like they're starving or desperate for money! Why don't they just give them the credit they deserve??? I MISS THE OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
