Question: Doesn't anybody agree that Johnny Depp is just a butt ugly, vastly overrated talentless ungrateful actor who always badmouths the US despite the fact that he has made a fortune in the US ?? ---- He is an over-the-hill TV actor who has the acting ability of a toad; but he puts a pirate patch over his eye & some people think that is " awesome acting " ?

Yup. Definitely the case of "hype being reality" and "the lemming effect". First comes the hype, then when enough people buy into the hype, the lemming effect takes hold. Then you have people who'd otherwise agree that Depp is a putz thinking he's the best thing since sliced bread. It's called "buzz" in the art world, in which people want to be seen as part of a group instead of thinking on their own.
Depp sucks, and a million robots disagreeing with me won't change my opinion one iota.

Here's the thing though. In most of the movies that he has made he has been nominated for Oscars! And he actually won some of them also! So where do you get it that he is a bad actor? Is it the fact that he makes millions of dollars? Is it that you are jealous because in your entire lifetime you will never make as much money as him?

Sorry but totally disagree. Since when does being over forty make some one over-the-hill? I think Johnny Depp is an excellent actor who completely immerses himself in a role. Most actors just play different versions of themselves but Johnny Depp is completely different in every film. If you've only seen the Pirates of the Caribbean movies then you should watch some of his other movies like Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, Benny and Joon...etc.
I also don't have an issue with him living in France. His girlfriend is French and he wants his kids to be raised in Europe. I lived in Europe for 8 years and they do have more history and culture (by virtue of being hundreds of years older) than the United States. It's a good experience for children to experience other cultures. That is not bad-mouthing the United States.

You have every right to call him ugly, but personally I find him stunningly handsome. However, I would seriously consider him the best living American actor alive today. He can transform himelf into any character. A drugged up pirate, and throat-slitting barber, a playwright, an author being hunted by a crazed murderer, a brother to a mentally retarded boy, a detective, an angsty teenage boy with scissors for hands.... anything. He is extremely versitile. And if you knew as much about movies as I did, you would realize that "Pirates" actually has a very slim plot. The story itself is not very good. It is Depp's acting skills that makes the movie stand out.
Mangatos I agree with you. Johnny Depp is a very exceptional actor. He takes any charactor and emerserses himself in the roles and makes them his own. Johnny's going to be 45 this year but he's still very good looking. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but the more you learn about him and see his interviews and watch his movies, the more you grow to appreciate what he's done and who is is an a human being. He's an excellent father who wants to raise his family away from the lights of the hollywood buzz.
In my eyes Johnny is the greatest actor of his time. He'll always be my favorite.
