If people claim to be Michael Jackson fans, why do they call him Jacko?!

Ok ur probably reffering to me,cause I ACCIDENTALLY called him Jacko once.But I said to all the MJ fans that I was really sorry cause I didn't know that it was a bad nickname.As some of u ppl already know,I'm from Greece and in my country the media don't call him like that or any otha bad nicknames so I didn't know about the whole "Jacko" story! Anyways I want to say sorry once again and believe me I ADORE Michael and would NEVER do/say anything to offend him!

because people only see one side of Michael Jackson but I don't, I think he's the epitome of a great performer and I respect him as an artist.
I have never once referred to him as Jacko.
I think some people think of it as a nickname, like his stage name or something. I used to think it was ok in like my first few months of my fanship, but once i found out it was bad, i stopped immedietly and haven't used it since. It really bugs me when one fan says to another not to call him jacko but they keep doing it. I don't know why they continue to do it, but to all the fans out there, just stop doing it. he doesn't like it.

They want to blend in with everyone else and they don't want to get called 'weird' because they're fans of Michael Jackson. It's stupid, but that's the way people are. x
I know, It's very annoying. I get really pissed off when people say Jacko or Wacko Jacko... They're not real fans of course because if they were they wouldn't say that. I hate it and i never used it. If it makes Michael unhappy, it makes me unhappy. But then again, some of them are still new fans and don't really know that it hurts Michael.

I don't know. I'd never do that. Maybe the ones who do it aren't aware that it hurts his feelings and he feels that it's demeaning to him. As he stated, 'It's very hurtful...he's a man and he's a father. His name is Michael Jackson and that's who he would like for people to refer to him as!' 1997---he said it--I remember watching him say this with conviction! So if you are a fan who didn't know how he felt and you still refer to him this way...he doesn't like it. great question!
Well, some people may be fans but don't want the people around them to know so they refer to him as Wacko Jacko or Jacko. Every MJ fan knows that the media came up with that name for Michael to offend him. Michael has said so himself.

If a fan calls Michael "Jacko" or "Wacko Jacko," then they are not true fans. By calling him Wacko or Jacko, they are disrespecting him. They might as well call him a pedophile. (which he's not) I have never even thought of calling him that. I never had and I'll never will.
